Ready or not, 2016 is just around the corner. I always find the beginning of each new year to be very exciting. It’s like that time of year when you’re already thinking about what to do next and somehow it could keeps you young, challenged, hard working, and inspired as well .
The same excitement also pops out every time I got the chance to see the work of new young talents. They always manage to have their own distinctive approach that favours innovative exploration while at the same time creating modern and cutting-edge pieces.
It took me back when I flew over to Kuala Lumpur couple months a go to attend The Grand Finale of the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search at KL Fashion Week Ready To Wear 2015. A total of 10 young designers were given the chance to showcase their creations on the prestigious KLFWRTW2015 runway. They were selected based on their originality, creativity, design, stage presentation and consistency in their proposed collection. The Top 3 AirAsia’s Most Promising Designers were revealed after an intense final round of judging and they are, Lee Bao En from UCSI University as the Grand Winner of AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2015, followed with Shazmin Hashim from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as the 1st Runner Up and Ter Mei Ching from Esmod Kuala Lumpur as the 2nd Runner Up of this designer search.
Each of the collections fusing the cleverness of the construction and offers an instantly recognisable design signature. Two things that has tapped into something new and fresh. And for me personally, look forward to what the winners has to present next year.
